Holy See Press Office statement

“The Holy Father received in audience this morning Cardinal Julian Herranz, Cardinal Jozef Tomko and Cardinal Salvatore De Giorgi of the commission of the investigation of the leaks of private information. They were accompanied by the commission’s secretary, Fr Luigi Martignani, OFM Cap.”. This was explained by a  Holy See Press Office statement given on Monday, 25 February, stating: “at the conclusion of their mission, the Holy Father thanked them for their helpful work, expressing satisfaction for the results of the investigation”. In fact their work  “made it possible to detect, given the limitations and imperfections of the human factor of every institution, the generosity, uprightness and dedication of those who work in the Holy See at the service of the mission entrusted by Christ to the Roman Pontiff”.

The statement concluded by stating that “the Holy Father has decided that the acts of this investigation, known only to himself, remain solely at the disposition of the new pope”.
