The national Fisherwomen Federation of Sri Lanka has proposed national policies that aim to improve the condition of women living in the north and in east of the country. The proposals have been submitted to Chandraani Bandara, Minister for Women and Child Affairs. The Federation has launched a petition to collect signatures to bring to light the problems facing the women of Sri Lanka, from financial inequality, abuses and the difficulty of survival. From the documentation available it may be deduced that women’s incomes, in comparison with men’s, are still lower for the same work.
