The fight against discrimination starts with language

After numerous protests, Fiat Argentina has withdrawn from circulation the manual provided for recently purchased cars. The “Manual del Buen Uso”, contains several offensive sentences regarding women. This is not only because it takes for granted that the owner and driver of a new car is exclusively male, but also because it contains macho phrases such as: “If the passenger is a woman and is wearing a very short skirt, we recommend, in order to stay concentrated, that you have her sit in the back”, or even “To behave like a gentleman, you must know that you must bring a woman and her girlfriends home safe and sound, assuming the role of an alpha male”.
