False information
The unfounded news regarding the Pope's health spread yesterday evening in a completely irresponsible way by Italian newspapers. Thousands of people in St Peter's Square saw the Pope for themselves today at the General Audience and even the Substitute of the Secretariat of State, Archbishop Angelo Becciu (@AngeloBecciu) tweeted: “I saw the Pope last night. He is doing very well and in great shape! What's all this uproar about his health?” . The Director of the Holy See Press Office, Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, made a statement during the night, underlining that the information is entirely untrue. He continued, saying: “I am telling you this, after verifying with the appropriate sources, including the Holy Father”. The timing of this reveals an intent to manipulate and create unnecessary uproar.
