· Message for the Meeting of Christians in Rimini ·
A Christian must not be afraid “to decentralize, to go toward the peripheries, because his centre is in Jesus Christ”. In a Message to the attendees of the 35th Meeting in Rimini which opened on Sunday, 24 August, on the theme: “ To the Ends of the Earth and of Existence. Destiny has not left man alone”. The text was signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, and sent to Bishop Francesco Lambiasi of Rimini. In the Message, the Pontiff, recalling that peripheries are “not only places, but also and above all people”, calling attention to the fact that “today’s men and women run the great risk of a sad, individualistic, isolated life”. The Holy Father calls attention to “two particular points”: first, “to never lose touch with reality”, and second, to always stay “focused on the essential”, and to avoid identifying the Christian message “by secondary aspects, which do not convey the heart of the message”.
