The situation in Europe, the main challenges which the Union is facing and the contribution of the people, especially the younger generations, to human and spiritual growth. These were the themes at the centre of the cordial meeting between Benedict XVI and Mr Mario Monti, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, who came on a private visit on Monday, 27 August, to the Apostolic Palace in Castel Gandolfo, where he also meet with Cardinale Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary of State.
