Christ decisive force to transform America

· The Pope to the international congress on the Church in the continent ·

“The Catholic Church is convinced that the light for an adequate solution can only come from encounter with the living Christ, which gives rise to attitudes and ways of acting based on love and truth. This is the decisive force which will transform the American continent”. The Pope said this to participants in the International Congress “Ecclesia in America” which met Sunday evening, 9 December, in the Vatican Basilica at the end of the inaugural mass at which Cardinal Ouellet, President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, celebrated. Among the challenges listed: the painful situation of emigration, uprooting and violence, inequality and the pockets of poverty brought about by questionable measures.
