A bishop for all
· Cardinal Parolin ordains Msgr Joël Mercier ·
A bishop should be “a reflection of the mercy of God for those entrusted to him, and in a special way for the poor and suffering, by drawing to Christ” all those whom he meets in his mission”. This is the profile of pastoral service in the words of the Cardinal Secretary of State who, on Thursday 19 March, ordained Archbishop Joël Mercier, until now an official of the Congregation for Bishops and appointed by Pope Francis as Secretary of the Congregation for Clergy. The Celebration took place in Rome's Church of San Luigi dei Francesi.
