· Cardinal Erdő on the joint message to Poland and Russia ·
Cardinal Péter Erdő, Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest and President of the Council of European Bishops' Conferences (CCEE), applauds the historic message signed jointly in Warsaw last Friday by Patriarch Kyrill I of Moscow and All Russia, Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, and by Archbishop Józef Michalik of Prezemyśl for Latins, President of the Polish Bishops' Conference. “Let us thank God for this exemplary declaration”, the letter sent to the two signatories says, “and we express the hope that it will be of help to the whole of Europe in encouraging the true human and Christian values. At a time of great spiritual and social confusion throughout our continent your declaration gives us hope, because it testifies that Jesus Christ is truly our peace and our reconciliation”.
